Let in the light, not the heat
3M Prestige is a home window film that lets the daylight through and keeps a big share of the sun’s heat and UV out. It does that without changing how your windows look or what you see through them.
Windows are what make a house feel bright and inviting. They’re also where the sun gets in, with heat in the summer and the UV that fades your furniture all year. You can close the blinds, and it works right up until you remember you picked this house for the windows.
Comfort and clarity that keep the look of your home
Solar heat comes from two places: the visible light you can see and the infrared light you can feel. Prestige is a non-metalized, multilayer optical film built with nanotechnology. 3M rates it at up to 97% of the sun’s infrared light rejected, up to 60% of the heat coming through the glass, and up to 99.9% of UV.
Prestige comes in shades that let 20% to 70% of the natural light into your home, and it has low reflectivity on both sides of the glass. In 3M’s words, the only thing you’ll see day or night, inside or out, is a beautiful window.
3M Prestige sun control film for residential windows
3M’s Prestige Series is a sun control film made for home windows. 3M calls it an industry-leading, spectrally selective film, which means it’s built to let visible light through while it turns away much of the infrared that carries the heat.
Sunlight through a window does more than warm the room. It makes hot spots on the floor and glare on the TV. Over time it adds to the cooling bill and fades whatever it lands on.
3M also says its window films increase performance faster than other films as the sun’s angle climbs. Put simply, the film works harder the higher the sun gets, and the San Antonio summer sun gets very high.

The benefits of 3M Prestige window film
Here’s what Prestige does on a home, by 3M’s own description.
- High natural light. 3M built it to let a lot of daylight through, so rooms stay bright and the house looks good.
- Up to 97% of infrared light rejected. That’s the heat you feel, so rooms stay comfortable and you can save on cooling.
- Low reflectivity inside and out. You keep the view from inside, and the house keeps its look from outside.
- No metal in the film. It won’t interfere with your phone or other devices, and there’s nothing in it to corrode.
- UV blocked. It blocks most of the UV that causes fading, so furniture, floors and curtains last longer.
- Carbon negative in as little as 6 months. 3M says Prestige can become carbon negative in as short as 6 months from install.
- A warranty from 3M. More on that below.
The no-metal part matters more than it sounds. Your phone keeps every bar of signal, so the calls about your car’s extended warranty will still come through loud and clear.
3M Prestige comes with a limited lifetime warranty
3M Prestige home window film comes with a limited lifetime warranty when a 3M certified dealer installs it on your home. Our installers are 3M certified, so Prestige from Fletch Window Tint carries that warranty.
3M calls it one of the most comprehensive warranties you can get, and it’s backed by a company you already know. It covers the film if it peels, bubbles or discolors.
I’d rather you read the warranty at your kitchen table before the film goes on than go looking for it afterwards. We’ll go through it with you at the quote. And if there’s ever a problem with our work, we make it right.

3M Prestige or 3M Night Vision?
Prestige and Night Vision are both 3M home films, and each one suits a different home. Prestige keeps the look of the house, with low reflectivity inside and out and shades that let in 20% to 70% of the light.
3M Night Vision is the one to look at if daytime privacy matters too. 3M gives it higher exterior reflectivity, so it’s harder to see in during the day, and low interior reflection, so you can still see out at night.
If you need privacy day and night, in a bathroom for example, 3M decorative window film does that job better than either one.

How a 3M Prestige job goes
Every Prestige job starts with a free quote at your house. Here’s what happens after that.
- Samples and the heat lamp. We hold 3M samples in front of a heat lamp so you can feel the difference with your own hand.
- Written quote. We measure the glass, and you get the price in writing before anything goes on the windows.
- Cleaning. Each pane gets cleaned so the film sticks properly.
- Cutting and fitting. The film is cut to each pane so it fits edge to edge.
- Final check and clean-up. We check every window and take every scrap with us.

3M Prestige Window Film Frequently Asked Questions
Questions homeowners ask about Prestige
What is 3M Prestige window film?
3M Prestige is a sun control window film for homes. It’s a non-metalized, multilayer optical film that 3M rates at up to 97% of the sun’s infrared light rejected, up to 60% of the heat coming through the glass and up to 99.9% of UV. Its shades let 20% to 70% of the natural light in.
Will Prestige make my windows look tinted?
That depends on the shade. Prestige has low reflectivity inside and out, so it doesn’t give the glass a mirror look. The lighter shades let in up to 70% of the light and change the look the least.
Does 3M Prestige stop fading?
Yes, it cuts fading. 3M rates Prestige at up to 99.9% of UV rejected, and UV is the main cause of fading in furniture, floors and curtains.
Will Prestige interfere with my phone or Wi-Fi?
No. Prestige has no metal in it, so it doesn’t interfere with phones or other devices, and there’s nothing in it to corrode.
How much does 3M Prestige cost in San Antonio?
Home window film, Prestige included, runs about $7 to $19 per square foot of glass, installed. The shade you pick and the amount of glass set the price. Every home gets a free quote at the house, and you’ll have the price in writing before anything goes on the glass.
What warranty comes with 3M Prestige?
3M gives Prestige a limited lifetime warranty when a 3M certified dealer installs it on your home. It covers the film if it peels, bubbles or discolors. Our installers are 3M certified.
Can Prestige go on the outside of the glass?
Yes. 3M makes an exterior version of Prestige, and we install it. We’ll look at your windows and tell you which version suits them.
Can you take off old film first?
Yes, as part of a new Prestige job. We don’t remove film from homes on its own.
How can I pay?
All major credit cards, checks and cash. Ask about our military and first responder discount.
