3M Obsidian: the entry-level film
Obsidian uses 3M’s patented Infuse technology, which infuses the dye into the film instead of sitting it on top, so it outlasts many dyed films. 3M rates it at up to 44% of total solar energy rejected, with low reflectivity and UV protection, in shades that block up to 92% of visible light. 3M Ceramic IR: the heat film
Infrared is over half the heat coming through your windows, and Ceramic IR is built to stop it. 3M rates it at up to 95% of infrared heat and up to 66% of total solar energy rejected, with up to 99.9% of UV blocked and up to 93% less glare. Crystalline is a multilayer optical film with over 200 layers in a sheet thinner than a Post-it Note. 3M rates it at up to 98% of infrared heat and up to 64% of total solar energy rejected, with up to 99.9% of UV blocked, in shades that stay nearly clear. Texas legal shades for 3M window tint
Texas law sets how dark your car tint can be. The front side windows have to be 25% or lighter and the back windows can be any darkness. The windshield has its own rules, which we explain on our windshield tint in Texas page. We install 3M window tint in San Antonio to the Texas rule on every car.
Darkness is measured in VLT, which stands for visible light transmission. It’s the share of light that gets through the glass, so a higher number means a lighter tint and a lower number means a darker one.
That’s where 3M’s lighter films earn their keep. Ceramic IR and Crystalline reject heat with the film itself rather than with darkness, so a legal shade on the front side windows can still keep you cool. If you ask for something the law doesn’t allow, we’ll say so before we start, not after.
3M film for your windshield
The windshield is the biggest window on the car. 3M Ceramic IR 70 is an optically clear film that goes on the inside of the glass, and 3M rates it at 41% of the sun’s heat rejected, 77% of infrared heat rejected and over 99% of UVA and UVB blocked. UV is what fades and cracks your dash.

Getting 3M window tint in San Antonio from us takes one phone call and one visit. Here’s how it goes.
1. A free quote first
Call or fill in the form and we’ll talk it through. We don’t take online bookings, because we’d rather talk to you before you drive over. Give us the year, make and model and we’ll give you a number up front.
2. Bring the car to Grissom Road
Every car is tinted at our shop at 7607 Grissom Road, Suite 114, in a clean bay out of the wind and dust. We’re open Monday to Saturday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.
3. Pick the film and the shade
We’ll walk you through the three 3M films and the Texas-legal shades, and help you pick. No pressure and no upsell.
4. Computer-cut, then installed by hand
A computer plotter cuts the film to your car’s exact window patterns, so no blade goes near your paint or gaskets. Then a 3M certified installer lays each piece by hand.
5. Drive home cooler
